Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) on Tuesday signed an MoU with Northern State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation to promote academic, scientific, and cultural cooperation between the two institutions.

The MoU was signed in the presence of vice-chancellor, Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi and senior functionaries from both sides. From BHU, registrar Prof. Arun Kumar Singh signed the MoU, while from the Russian side, Bylova N. A. Acting Rector, was the official signatory.

The agreement aims to encourage exchange initiatives involving students, researchers, academic staff, and technical personnel for strengthening specialized human resources and advancing scientific progress.

Under the MoU, the two institutions will support academic mobility through exchange programmes and collaborative academic initiatives.

Vice-chancellor, Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi said that the MoU also paves the way for new avenues of mutual collaboration and cooperation, enabling both institutions to benefit from each other’s expertise and experiences.

He said that possibilities for internship opportunities for students from both sides should also be explored to provide them with practical exposure and a broader international perspective.

Natalia Anikina, Dean, NSMU, Russia, said that the understanding would open new pathways for growth and excellence for the students and staff of both universities.

She informed that Northern State Medical University has nearly 1,500 Indian students pursuing education there and possesses extensive health infrastructure offering state-of-the-art medical education and research facilities.
