Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University on Tuesday marked a significant milestone in the advancement of nuclear science in India with the inauguration of the newly constituted Indian Nuclear Physics Association (INPA) on its campus.BHU vice-chancellor Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi inaugurated the facility and also released the inaugural issue of INPA bulletin titled ‘Nuclear Horizons.’ Prof Chaturvedi said that INPA will play a vital role in advancing excellence in nuclear science and technology in the country. The association should also actively mobilize resources to support student research, laboratory development, and provide early-career scientists with mentorship and opportunities essential for their growth.The Department of Physics, BHU will serve as the central hub for INPA’s activities.The Indian Nuclear Physics Association has been established with the objective of promoting high-quality research in nuclear physics, strengthening collaboration among institutions, and providing a unified platform for scientists, researchers, and students engaged in nuclear science and its applications.Highlighting the broader vision of the initiative, INPA president Prof AK Jain emphasized the importance of establishing a dedicated national forum for nuclear physicists to foster sustained growth and innovation in the field.Prof B. P. Singh, Executive Secretary of INPA, said that the it will strengthen inter-institutional connections and support the growth of the discipline.
