Prayagraj: Hearing a writ petition seeking a CBI probe into the mysterious death of Bhojpuri actor Akanksha Dubey, the Allahabad high court on Friday issued notices to two accused and fixed May 22 for the next hearing.In 2023, Dubey was found dead in a hotel in Sarnath. Her mother, Madhu, alleged that her daughter had been murdered, naming singer-actor Samarjeet Singh alias Samar Singh and producer Sanjay Singh as responsible. However, the police concluded that it was a case of suicide.Challenging the police investigation, her mother filed the present writ petition, requesting a CBI inquiry into the entire incident to ensure that the truth is brought to light.Hearing the writ petition, a bench comprising Justice Siddharth and Justice Vinay Kumar Dwivedi also directed Sarnath police station SHO, Police Commissionerate Varanasi, to file a counter affidavit, failing which he shall be present before the court on the next hearing date.The court has also directed the police commissioner, Varanasi, to ensure that the counter affidavit is filed in the court by the SHO.On May 4, the court had reserved its order after hearing counsel for the petitioners, Saurabh Tiwari, Amit Kumar and Vikash Kumar, CBI counsel Rahul Srivastava and additional govt advocate, who represented the state.
