Bhilwara: The Anti-Corruption Bureau team of Bhilwara arrested a constable posted at the City Kotwali police station while accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 Tuesday. The accused had demanded money in exchange of quick action in an old case.Deputy SP of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Parasmal, said that on June 29 a person filed a complaint. The complainant stated the investigation in a case registered against him in 2022 at the City Kotwali police station has been pending. Constable Razzak Mohammad was handling the paperwork and harassing the complainant by repeatedly calling him to the police station. Mohammad also demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant in exchange for getting the file disposed of quickly. He had already taken Rs 5,000 and was demanding the remaining money.The ACB verified the complaint and laid a trap for the constable. On Tuesday afternoon, the complainant was given Rs 6,000 that was then sent to Raja Juice Centre near the City Kotwali police station. There, constable Razzak Mohammad took the amount, placed it in a bag and departed on his motorcycle. The ACB team stopped him and recovered Rs 6,000. DySP Parasmal said that during preliminary investigation, only the role of constable Razzak Mohammad has come to light.However, during interrogation the accused stated that he had spoken to an officer and reduced the amount to be given as bribe. Probe is on in the matter.
