Nagpur: Bhandara guardian minister Pankaj Bhoyar has directed district officials to regularly inspect aided tribal ashramshalas in Bhandara and issue immediate notices to any found lacking facilities for students.Bhoyar on Thursday chaired a district administration review meeting, where he also reviewed anganwadi buildings and construction of the district hospital. He directed the project officer of Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP), Bhandara, to physically inspect ashramshalas and submit a report within a month. Of the 165 anganwadis currently operational in the district, he asked for a similar inspection of 82 on rented premises.In Yavatmal, allegations have surfaced that students at several aided tribal ashram schools are being deprived of basic facilities. Under the Pandharkawada Integrated Tribal Development Project, 18 govt-run and 28 private aided ashram schools function in the district, with govt providing school managements Rs 2,250 per student a month towards uniforms, footwear and nutritional items such as eggs, bananas and dry fruits.Pandharkawada Integrated Tribal Development Project officer Revayya Dongre said, “Following Gadchiroli incident, we have started inspections of all aided ashram schools under the Pandharkawada project. Some schools have been found lacking basic facilities. A report will be submitted to the senior authorities.”
