Bengaluru: A 28-year-old woman’s private moments turned into a nightmare after cybercriminals allegedly gained unauthorised access to her intimate photographs and videos and uploaded them to an adult website without her consent. The woman had shared the content exclusively with her lover, whom she intends to marry. The breach has raised serious concerns over digital privacy and online safety.According to a complaint filed by Shikha (name changed), a resident of Domlur in east Bengaluru, who works for a private firm, she discovered through her friends on Oct 12 that her intimate photographs and videos, which she had shared exclusively with her lover, had surfaced on an adult website. She suspects that an unknown person gained unauthorised access to her Snapchat account and obtained the private content and uploaded it online. In her complaint, she also provided information indicating that an Android (Samsung M31) device may have been used to log in to her Snapchat account.A senior officer said a case was registered under various sections of the Information Technology Act at the East Cyber Crime Police Station. Measures are being taken to remove the photographs and videos from the website, and efforts are underway to trace the cybercriminals who allegedly hacked her account and uploaded the content to the website.
