Bengaluru: An accidental fire broke out at a mattress and sofa manufacturing unit-cum-godown in Gollahalli village, Anjanapura, on the city’s outskirts early Sunday, sending thick plumes of smoke across the area and triggering panic among residents.Two persons — a fire and emergency services responder and a mini goods vehicle driver — sustained injuries. Both are undergoing treatment and are out of danger. Police said their identities are yet to be confirmed.The blaze at Grace Traders was reported around 8.20am, with fire officials receiving an alert at 8.40am. Nine vehicles along with around 70 personnel, including 10 officers, were deployed. The fire was brought under control by noon and fully extinguished by 3.30pm.The unit, spread across roughly 200×100 sqft, suffered extensive damage. Flames also spread to the adjacent Platinum Gardenia apartment complex, shattering windowpanes on four floors. Residents were evacuated as a precaution, and no injuries were reported from the building.The mini goods vehicle driver was inside the premises when the fire broke out and was injured while trying to escape. A fire services personnel was hurt during operations when water splashed back from burning materials.Officials said a transformer located between the unit and the apartment complex could be linked to the fire, though an electrical fault within the unit is also being examined.
