Bengaluru: A doctor was arrested on charges of assaulting a Bangladeshi couple living in Whitefield.Nasreena Bilal, 23, filed a complaint against Dr Nagendra of Sai Clinic-Bettadasapura-Bellandur for reportedly beating her and her husband, Mohammed Bilal, a driver, saying they were Bangladeshi residents.Based on the complaint, Bellandur police arrested Dr Nagendra Thursday and produced him before a court, which granted him bail.According to Nagendra, he acted out of emotion as there were many illegal immigrants in and around Whitefield. A heated argument broke out between Nagendra and the victims when the doctor questioned their citizenship, police sources said.Police said Dr Nagendra could have alerted them instead of attacking the couple. “It is true the victims are from Bangladesh. We are collecting more information about them,” an investigating officer said.
