Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday claimed that an attempt was made to cancel her nomination from Bhabanipur by submitting false affidavits. Banerjee also criticised the BJP for proposing to implement a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in West Bengal and claimed that through this the saffron camp wants to snatch away the rights of the people.

“Staring at imminent and humiliating defeat, they (BJP-ECI) are now resorting to every unconstitutional and undemocratic trick in the book just to cling to power,” Banerjee said.
