Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said on Friday that there will be no Chief Minister worse than him if law and order is violated in Bengal by anyone.

Adhikari made the remarks as the double-engine government in Bengal completed one month in office.

“On June 20, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Tarakeswar in Bengal and several projects will be inaugurated by him,” Adhikari said. “The Prime Minister will come to Kolkata on June 21 for Yoga Diwas.”

“The Constitution is of prime importance to us and we will act in the best interests of the people,” he said.

All central welfare benefits have been extended to Bengal and several MoUs are being signed, the Chief Minister said.

Speaking about the key achievements of the Narendra Modi government, Adhikari said, “Popular leader Prime Minister Narendra Modi has broken all records and created history. Service to the nation has always been his main motto. The Prime Minister prefers to call himself the ‘Pradhan Sevak’. He has been working continuously for the country.”
“The main foundation of the central government over the last 12 years has been a combination of ‘Virasat and Vikas’. MSP for farmers is one of its key achievements.”More than 90 airports have been developed during the Modi government’s tenure, Adhikari said.

A small exhibition on social welfare was inaugurated in Kolkata on Friday. He also highlighted development work, including infrastructure projects, medical colleges and new IITs.

He also referred to initiatives related to women’s empowerment, women’s safety and security, the construction of 14 crore toilets in rural areas, nearly 5 crore houses under the PM Awas Yojana, free ration distribution and the Jal Jeevan Mission.

He also highlighted development and cultural projects, including the Buddha and Ram circuits.

The new government has completed one month and two days in office.

According to Adhikari, 1.43 lakh people have been identified for the Ayushman Bharat scheme. He alleged that Rs 27,000 crore was looted under the Jal Jeevan Mission. MGNREGA work has been resumed with an allocation of Rs 700 crore. Under the new GRAMji scheme for 2026-27, Rs 8,500 crore has been allocated.

“An outline of the government’s plans, though not the full budget, will be reflected in the Bengal Budget. Efforts will be made to build a self-reliant West Bengal, with vocal for local and Atmanirbhar Bharat as key focus areas.”

“In Bengal, the new government is now five weeks old. For security reasons, land transfer and handing over of strategic areas in the Chicken’s Neck region of North Bengal to the BSF will be carried out. Census work, Jal Jeevan Mission projects and other initiatives will also be taken up,” the Chief Minister said.

“In the border areas, nine districts will be developed as vibrant villages,” he said.

He added that increasing revenue, creating a business- and industry-friendly environment, ensuring corruption-free employment generation, implementing welfare schemes for common people, maintaining law and order, and strengthening women’s safety and security would remain the government’s priorities.
