New Delhi: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will hand over approval letters to 4,000 women under Delhi Lakshmi Yojana Wednesday. The govt will begin disbursing the monthly assistance of Rs 2,500 to beneficiaries from Sept 1.“Every eligible woman in Delhi must receive what is rightfully hers… Your dignity, safety, financial independence and self-reliance are at the heart of our governance,” CM Rekha Gupta said in a post on X.On Aug 1, govt invited applications for the scheme. In 25 days, 9,13,495 women registered, and 6,52,223 final applications were submitted.The sum will be credited to the bank accounts of eligible women aged 21 to 60 under the scheme. The benefit will be availed of by the eldest eligible woman in a family, provided she has been a resident of Delhi for at least 10 years, has a valid voter ID and belongs to a family with an annual income of less than Rs 2.5 lakh.Those who do not qualify for the scheme are women who pay income tax, are govt employees or pensioners, or are recipients of another pension. Women who own a four-wheeler, have more than three children, consume over 2,400 units of electricity annually, or have a govt employee in the family are also not eligible for the scheme. Anyone with a criminal record is also excluded.
