Rajkot: A 55-year-old woman was found murdered at her residence in Bapa Sitaram Park behind Matuki Restaurant on Kalawad Road on Thursday morning. The victim, Geeta Vaja, had wounds to her face, neck and hands that were inflicted by a bladed weapon.Her husband, Kishor Vaja, 50, lodged a complaint of murder at University police station against an unidentified person.Geeta lived in Rajkot with her younger son, Ashish, and ran a beauty parlour, while Kishor lived in Junagadh. Their older son lives in Vadodara. Kishor had been staying with Geeta and Ashish in Rajkot for the past five days.Police said both Kishor and Ashish were away from the house on Wednesday night. Around 9.30am on Thursday, Ashish returned home and found the main door locked from inside. On getting no response to his knocking, he accessed the terrace from a neighbouring house and entered the residence.Inside, he saw his mother in a pool of blood in the hall and immediately called his father, police said.Kishor told police that he saw deep wounds on Geeta’s cheek, neck and hands. Investigators suspect an unidentified person entered the house during the night with criminal intent, attacked Geeta with a bladed weapon and fled after killing her.
