Nagpur: The child welfare committee (CWC) is set to visit the home of the 16-year-old survivor of the BDSM horror case to ensure comprehensive psychological support. The Class 12 student was on Saturday discharged from Govt Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where she underwent treatment, including plastic surgery on her left hand. The traumatised girl, who was bleeding profusely and barely conscious at the time of rescue, was taken to GMCH by police on Monday.Simultaneously, the 19-year-old accused who had tortured the teen in captivity, was discharged from the same hospital and sent to Nagpur central jail late evening. Police have reserved the right to again seek his police custody, likely next week.CWC chairperson Chhaya Gurav Raut said, “the survivor continues to battle severe physical and mental trauma, and we will provide a safe, supportive environment for her recovery and rehabilitation, including professional counselling.”Daughter of a senior govt official, the teen was allegedly held captive for over 24 hours in a rented flat in Nagpur’s Dighori area by a 19-year-old youth from Thane, whom she befriended on Instagram. Police sources said the accused, who posed as a NEET aspirant to rent the room, allegedly subjected her to repeated sexual assault, inflicted 20 injuries with a surgical blade, whipped her with a metal-studded leather belt, and raped her at knifepoint.Police too swung into action to protect the survivor’s dignity and privacy. Joint Commissioner of Police Navinchandra Reddy instructed the Hudkeshwar police to visit the survivor’s school and meet family members. The police directive aims to ensure that school authorities implement strict protocols so that no one discusses, questions, or talks about the sexual assault with the survivor to shield her from further emotional distress and stigma in her educational environment.Sources revealed police will soon engage a team, including women constables in plainclothes, to record the survivor’s statement at her home. The move is designed to avoid prolonged questioning sessions and prioritise her psychological stability.Investigators are focusing on extracting data from the accused’s mobile phones and survivor’s device, which he had locked, to piece together digital evidence of the alleged grooming, blackmail, and planned assault. The case has highlighted the dangers of online interactions and the need for stringent tenant verification.Shiv Sena MLC Neelam Gorhe is scheduled to visit Hudkeshwar police station and meet senior police officials and the investigation officer of the BDSM case on Sunday.
