Guwahati: Subhash Nagar Sarbajanin Durga Puja Committee has arranged drinking water, medical assistance and a portable washroom for women to improve facilities for devotees and visitors during the festival. The initiative comes amid recurring water-supply problems and inadequate washroom facilities in the locality. The committee provides drinking water every year for visitors to the puja pandal, particularly during the festive days when large crowds gather.“Although there are food stalls which have bottled water available, we also store enough water, just in case of an emergency,” said Deepjyoti Dey, general secretary of the committee.Medical assistance will also be available at the venue to address health-related emergencies.“Every year, a large number of people visit our pandal during Durga Puja. However, women sometimes face difficulties due to the unavailability of proper washroom facilities. This year, we are planning to provide a portable washroom for women so that they can attend the celebrations with greater comfort and convenience,” a committee member said. The organisers said the arrangements are aimed at making the celebrations more inclusive and ensuring that visitors can participate in the festivities without concerns over basic amenities.
