Jaisalmer: A man who was missing since June 2 was found dead in a tank near Malpura under Sadar police station area in Barmer district Thursday. His family alleged that his wife had murdered and dumped his body in the water.The deceased was identified as Tejaram (42), a resident of Garal village.According to police, Tejaram left Jalor on June 2 after work for his village in Barmer but never reached home. His body was found in a tank near the Malpura-Nokhda road on Thursday after villagers noticed an abandoned bag nearby and alerted police.Officers recovered the body, searched the bag and contacted the family. The body was shifted to the mortuary of Barmer Hospital.SHO Kartarsingh said a postmortem was being conducted by a medical board. He said the family had expressed suspicion against the deceased’s wife, and the matter was under investigation.The deceased’s brother, Mahesharam, alleged that Tejaram had been involved in a dispute with his wife over her alleged extramarital relationship. He claimed several community-level meetings had been held in recent days to resolve the issue.Mahesharam alleged that Neembaram, Gumansingh and Tejaram’s wife, Chital Devi, were involved in the incident. He further claimed that the wife spent the night of June 2 outside the house with her two children and returned the following morning. He also alleged that the accused removed Tejaram’s bag and mobile phone from the spot before leaving the body behind.Mahesharam alleged that Tejaram had a dispute with his wife over her alleged extramarital relationship and that several panchayat meetings had been held in recent days. He named Neembaram, Gumansingh and Tejaram’s wife, Chital Devi, as suspects.He further alleged that Chital Devi spent the night of June 2 away from home with her two children and returned the following morning. The family also alleged that the accused removed Tejaram’s mobile phone from the spot before leaving the body in the tank.
