Nagpur: Twenty-three executives, including four women staff of a city-based corporate firm have been named in an FIR for obscenity after CCTV cameras captured them in objectionable positions at a private farmhouse in Champa, 24km off Nagpur. The alleged rave party was part of the firm’s annual day function last week and the matter surfaced on Wednesday with police also naming farmhouse owner and two of his staff in the FIR.CCTV footage will establish the sequence of events and identify illegal activities during the celebration, particularly vulgar dance sessions with bar dancers. “We got a tipoff about a rave party at the farmhouse and the event came under scrutiny after Panchgaon police scanned CCTV footage at the venue,” said SP Nagpur Rural Harssh A Poddar. The SP stated a detailed probe would lead to crucial information about the company, the representatives who planned the event and how bar dancers were arranged. As per police, CCTV footage played a crucial role in initiating action against those allegedly involved in organising and facilitating the party.Farmhouse owner Ramlu Sultan, manager Aarif Anwar Khan, caretaker Aarif Anwar Shaikh and company representatives were charged along with guests at the party. Sources stated guests had come from Gadchiroli, Akola, Chandrapur, Nagpur and other towns. “The company website is not revealing much about its entity, assets or portfolios,” said an official. The incident raised questions about the use of private farmhouses for corporate parties and the responsibility of venue operators to ensure events comply with law.“While farmhouses are often hired for private celebrations, organisers and management are expected to follow legal directives,” said an official. The case involves allegations of operating a venue for a dance event without a licence and allowing obscene performances, along with related acts, under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
