Hyderabad: A retired assistant commissioner of police (ACP) has filed a complaint with Banjara Hills police alleging that he was duped of Rs 2 crore by a Secunderabad-based father-and-son duo with a false promise to sell a plot in Vikrampuri.The complainant, E Shanker Reddy, 64, from MLA Colony in Banjara Hills, had previously worked as ACP of Banjara Hills. The retired cop stated that he entered into a registered sale agreement on Oct 3, 2022, at the sub-registrar office (SRO), Bowenpally, with Ranbir Aggarwal, son of Anil Kumar Aggarwal, a businessman from P&T Colony in Karkhana, for buying an 863 square yard plot in Vikrampuri Colony, Secunderabad.Reddy stated he paid an advance of Rs 2.07 crore through RTGS transfer, cheque and cash between May 2020 and October 2022, with a condition that the balance amount of Rs 23,04,200 would be paid within four months or at the time of registration of the property, whichever was earlier.“The funds were drawn from my post-retirement benefits, lifetime savings, family contributions and personal borrowings. Despite repeated requests, legal notices and written promises by the accused, the registration of the property in my name was never executed,” the complainant alleged.Alleging that the accused neither returned the amount nor registered the property in his name, Reddy lodged a complaint with Banjara Hills police on June 22. A case was registered under Sections 318(4) (cheating), 316(2) (criminal breach of trust), 336(3) (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy punishment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against Ranbir Aggarwal and Anil Kumar Aggarwal. Banjara Hills police said that they were verifying evidence and notices would be issued to the accused.
