Jaipur: Gurjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti president and BJP functionary Vijay Singh Bainsla Thursday urged higher education minister Premchand Bairwa to intervene after Devnarayan Kanya Mahavidyalaya in Bayana, Bharatpur, offered BSc mathematics and biology courses without science laboratories.In a letter to Bairwa on Aug 22, Bainsla said students were being taught science subjects despite the college lacking laboratory facilities. He said practical training was an essential part of BSc education and questioned how practical examinations had been conducted and evaluated in previous years without laboratories.Bainsla sought immediate establishment of laboratories for mathematics and biology, along with necessary equipment, materials and other basic facilities. He also demanded that regular and compulsory practical classes be ensured for students.He further sought a review of the BSc courses and academic standards at the college, saying they should be brought in line with those followed in govt colleges across Rajasthan.Bainsla said science education could not be limited to classroom and book-based learning, particularly at the undergraduate level. He warned that the absence of laboratories could affect students’ practical skills and the overall quality of education.He said the issue was particularly important for girl students from rural and disadvantaged backgrounds, who depend on access to quality science education to pursue higher studies, competitive examinations, research and employment opportunities.“This is not an issue of any political party, caste or community, but a question about the future of our daughters,” Bainsla said.“If we are giving our daughters a science degree, it is our collective responsibility to ensure they also receive the education and practical training required for it,” he said, urging the govt to provide the laboratories on priority.
