Jangaon: In a tragic incident, a 16-month-old baby girl lost her life after accidentally falling into a water sump in front of the house in Ambedkar Nagar in Jangaon town on Wednesday. Upon learning of the child’s death, her grandmother reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest and died. The deceased baby girl was identified as M Priyans, and her grandmother M Nagamma (68).According to the Jangaon police, the child’s father, Raghu, sells samosas at Jangaon bus station, and his wife, Bhavani, is a home maker. On Wednesday, their daughter was playing near the house when she reportedly wandered away and fell into an open water sump in front of their house. As no one noticed the incident immediately, the child remained missing for a few hours.Suspecting that the child might have fallen into the sump, the neighbours checked it and found her floating in the water. They immediately rushed her to the nearby private hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Upon learning about the information of the death of the child, her grandmother M Nagamma suffered a cardiac arrest and died.Jangaon inspector P Satyanarayana Reddy stated that the child’s body was shifted to the Jangaon govt hospital for postmortem. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
