Tangmarg, Sep 14: J&K Waqf Board Chairperson and Minister of State Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi on Monday inaugurated a shrine upgradation project and high-tech ambulance service at the revered Baba Payam-ud-Din Rishi shrine at Baba Rishi, Tangmarg.
Andrabi paid obeisance at the shrine and offered prayers for peace, prosperity and the well-being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir before participating in an event organised by the J&K Waqf Board.
The shrine upgradation project includes beautification of the shrine complex, improvement of facilities and measures for better management.
Later, Andrabi reviewed ongoing development works, including those at Gulmarg Jamia Masjid, and interacted with the engineering team, directing timely completion of the projects as per prescribed plans.
Addressing the gathering, Andrabi said the Waqf Board was undertaking a comprehensive transformation of its properties and shrines across Jammu and Kashmir, with emphasis on modern infrastructure, public amenities, cleanliness and preservation of spiritual heritage.
She said the Board’s objective was to ensure that shrines and Waqf institutions provide improved facilities to devotees while retaining their historical and cultural character.
Andrabi also called for collective efforts by Waqf officials, local communities and devotees to maintain the sanctity, cleanliness and dignity of shrines.
Senior Waqf Board officials and concerned engineering officers were present on the occasion.
