Kanpur: A health department crackdown in Kanpur’s Takseempur village exposed an allegedly unlicensed clinic claiming to offer Ayurvedic cancer treatment, with officials raiding the facility on Sunday and issuing show-cause notices to two people after allegedly finding fake and unlicensed medicines on the premises.ACMO Dr Kailash Chandra said fake and unlicensed medicines were found at RK Pharmacy during the raid, while an investigation revealed that the clinic was operating without proper registration. Further legal action would be taken and an FIR registered after orders from the district magistrate and CMO, he said.The action followed a complaint by Shubham Shaurya Agnihotri, co-provincial convener of Shiv Shakti Akhada Niranjani Kanpur Prant. He had sought action over the alleged operation of an unregistered hospital by unqualified practitioners and the distribution of suspicious medicines.The clinic was allegedly started by Vaidya Rakesh Kumar Rajput, who claimed to treat cancer through Ayurvedic methods and attracted patients from distant places. After his death, his nephew allegedly took charge of the operation.Villagers alleged that Devendra Kushwaha and others without medical qualifications were giving suspicious medicines to patients. The clinic allegedly earned lakhs of rupees each month despite having no valid degree, registration or licence.
