Kanpur: Senior umpire of the Kanpur Cricket Association (KCA) panel, Manik Gupta, died during a match on Wednesday after a swarm of bees attacked at Sapru ground in Shuklaganj Unnao, stinging umpires and players on the field.Gupta, 65, was an umpire at a KDMA league match being played between YMCC and Paramount when the bees attacked. Noida: Nearly 18 months after the Uttar Pradesh Lift and Escalator Act, 2024 took effect, compliance has remained slow with just 11,000 lifts of an estimated 80,000 lifts in the district registered so far. On Tuesday, district magistrate Medha Roopam ordered lift manufacturers and AMC firms to submit, within two days, a complete inventory of all lifts they have installed across the district in societies, malls, hospitals, offices, hotels, and industrial units. Panaji: Goa’s rural areas accounted for three times the number of fatal accidents as compared to urban areas, as per the traffic police’s accident analysis for 2025. A total of 215 people died in accidents in rural areas, compared to 58 in urban areas.
