Pune: A baseline survey to assess astronomy learning in Indian schools has found that even though a majority of the 2,038 students of Class IX surveyed across 10 states expressed a strong interest in the subject, many demonstrated limited understanding of fundamental concepts.The survey said that access to resources like telescopes and planetariums was limited, particularly in resource-poor schools. Nearly 86% of the students reported they enjoyed learning about astronomy and 70% were considering studying it in the future. Margao: The newly constituted district-level committee of Kushavati district convened its first meeting on Wednesday to review Forest Rights Act, 2006 claims. This marked a significant milestone since the third district came into being.Collector Egna Cleetus chaired the session, which examined 37 claims forwarded by the Sanguem sub-divisional committee. Lucknow: On the lines of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), a residential set-up for girls belonging to economically and socially weaker sections, the state govt for the first time decided to set up residential girls’ schools in educationally backward blocks (EBBs) that do not have a KGBV.
