Mumbai: Two people died, and five others were injured after an over 22-foot-tall Ganpati idol of Bhuleshwar Cha Raja fell during its arrival procession at Dr Atmaram Merchant Road, Kabutarkhana, Jay Ambe Chowk, in Bhuleshwar, on Saturday night at around 10 pm.According to the police, one of the dead has been identified as Sanket Nevshe, president of the Ganpati mandal. New Delhi: After some candidates flagged discrepancies in seat allotments, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University withheld the initial spot round 2 (online) results for five programmes Saturday. Chennai: A 37-year-old contract worker was buried alive when one side of a 10ft-deep pit caved in during sewage work at Gramam Street in Thiruvottiyur early Saturday.The deceased, Bhoominathan of Tiruvannamalai district, was among four workers digging a sewage tank meant for four houses in the locality.Around 4am, Bhoominathan was inside the pit, removing soil with a shovel when the earth from one side collapsed on him. Ahmedabad: City police have registered a complaint by a 20-year-old BCom student who alleged that a college acquaintance raped her repeatedly after promising marriage, then blackmailed her into stealing family jewellery.The woman said she met the accused at college in December 2025 and they began speaking after exchanging numbers. Kanpur: A court in Kanpur Nagar on Saturday convicted a man, identified as Vivek Kushwaha, in the 18-year-old murder case of a businessman and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
