New Delhi: The recurring problem of overcrowded classrooms in Delhi govt schools is back in focus.In a letter to the Delhi education department, an education activist has sought “urgent intervention” to limit the “excessively high student-classroom ratio” in several govt schools, particularly in east Delhi. Hyderabad: After distributing their farmland and house among their three sons, an elderly couple in Chapta (K) village of Narayankhed mandal in Sangareddy were left struggling for food and shelter. The couple, who had repeatedly approached officials seeking the return of a small portion of their land to support themselves, died by suicide on Wednesday morning.Police identified the deceased as Munge Narsa Reddy (88) and his wife Anjamma (85). Chennai: Water resources department (WRD) has begun a ₹7-crore project to restore the 120-acre Pallavaram Periya Eri, which has been choked by water hyacinth and affected by sewage and encroachments.Workers have started clearing the hyacinth. The project also includes desilting the lake, strengthening and reshaping its bunds, and improving its inlet and outlet channels to help it receive and retain rainwater.The WRD plans to restore three major inlet channels that bring water to the lake: one from the Tirusulam hills, another from Thiruneermalai through Moongil Eri, and a third from Veeraraghavan Lake through Chrompet.
