Aizawl: A 20-year-old man arrested in connection with the death of a 15-year-old girl in Mizoram’s Lunglei district escaped from police custody around midnight on Monday, police said Tuesday.The suspect, Denghmingthanga of Mualthuam North village, was being held in the case linked to the death of H Lalramdinpuii. Kanpur: A 19-year-old youth died after being hit by a speeding vehicle in Shahjahanpur under the Satti police station area of Kanpur Dehat.The deceased was identified as Ashish Pal, a resident of Kathri village.According to police, Ashish was on his way to a computer café when an unidentified car allegedly rammed into him.Eyewitnesses said the impact was so severe that Ashish was thrown into the air and died on the spot. Ghaziabad: Allahabad High Court has enhanced compensation in a 59-year-old land acquisition case from Maharajpur, raising the rate from Rs 1.30 per square yard to Rs 20 per square yard. The case dates back to 1967, when 36 bigha of land was acquired and later became part of the Sahibabad industrial area under UP State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA). Porvorim: Power minister Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar has assured compensation to Chinchinim farmers who recently lost four buffaloes to electrocution.Velim MLA Cruz Silva said that two of the deceased cattle were pregnant and the deaths have caused loss of livelihood to the affected farmers.
