Bengaluru: An elderly couple died by suicide at their Shivanalli residence in Manjunathanagar, Basaveshwaranagar, Wednesday as they were reportedly worried over health and financial issues.The deceased are 77-year-old Eeshwar Achari and wife, Gauri Achari, 66. The double suicide came to light Thursday morning when one of their daughters reached their residence after the couple did not respond to phone calls. Hyderabad: A 25-year-old painter from Gollapalli village in Rajanna Sircilla district died by suicide at his house on Wednesday night after writing a suicide note on an enumeration form stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the reason for his death. Ahmedabad: Pharma major Zydus Lifesciences on Thursday received approval to conduct a Phase III clinical trial of Desidustat in patients with sickle cell disease, the company said in a stock exchange filing.The 203-day trial, to be conducted in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), will enrol 164 patients. It will assess the efficacy and safety of Desidustat oral tablets in treating anaemia among patients with sickle cell disease.The Phase III study will be a double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled, parallel-group and multicentre trial.
