Panaji: A four-decade-old power substation on the Goa University campus is being upgraded, with govt planning a new 33 kV substation at an estimated cost of Rs 12 crore.“The existing substation no longer has adequate capacity to meet the power requirements of the expanding campus,” said vice-chancellor Harilal B Menon.“The university’s present substation was designed at a time when the campus had considerably fewer buildings and facilities. Amritsar: Three youths travelling towards Amritsar on a motorcycle were killed after a speeding car rammed their two-wheeler on the Fatehgarh Churian-Sangatpura road on Tuesday.Jhander police station SHO Naresh Kumar said the deceased included Jagtar Singh, Sandeep Singh and Gurdeep Singh, all residents of Hardowal Kalan village.The impact was so intense that the car dragged the motorcycle for nearly 100 metres, leaving it completely wrecked, police said.The car driver was also injured and admitted to a hospital.
