Jaisalmer: Dhorimanna police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) Wednesday seized 8,170 intoxicating tablets and Rs 1.78 lakh in cash, suspected to be proceeds from the sale of the contraband, from a luxury car and arrested three men in Dhorimanna town of Barmer district.The accused were identified as Mahendra Vahrade, Kapil Ametha and Chhotu Singh.Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Kawat said the joint operation was carried out as part of a special campaign against narcotics trafficking in the district. It was conducted under the supervision of Gudamalani Circle Officer Sukharam (RPS) and led by Dhorimanna SHO Dalpat Singh, along with the ATS unit from Jodhpur.Officials said the joint team intercepted the car during a routine check. After the occupants failed to produce valid vehicle documents, police detained the vehicle and searched it, recovering the tablets and cash. Investigators suspect the money was generated through the illegal sale of the contraband.A case was registered, and further investigation is under way to identify the wider distribution network.
