Pune: Shivajinagar on Saturday logged a maximum temperature of 35.9°C, making it the city’s hottest Oct day since 2003. The last time temperature was highest during the month was on Oct 7, 2002, when the station recorded 36.9°C.According to weather experts from Vagaries of Weather blog, Saturday’s reading is the highest October maximum recorded at Shivajinagar since the 2002 peak.Data from India Meteorological Department (IMD) showed that the day’s maximum temperature at Shivajinagar was 4° above normal. Elevated temperatures were recorded across the district, indicating a widespread heat surge.Among other monitoring stations, Wadgaon Sheri recorded 35.5°C, followed by Baramati and NDA at 35.4°C each. Talegaon registered 35.3°C, while Hadapsar recorded 34.8°C. Temperatures at Pashan-AWS, Chinchwad, and Magarpatta stood at 34.5°C, 34.4°C and 34°C, respectively.The unusually high Oct temperatures have pushed daytime conditions well above seasonal averages, marking one of the warmest spells the city has experienced in recent years.
