Kolkata: Bengal leads the country in female workforce participation in the MSME sector, with the state accounting for 12.7% of all woman workers employed in MSMEs in the country, said minister of state for labour Bhaskar Bhattacharya. He was speaking at the 20th edition of Safety Symposium and Exhibition by CII in Kolkata last week. Bengal accounts for 16% of all Indian MSME manufacturing enterprises and 13.1% of ‘other services’ MSMEs, Bhattacharya added, saying the state has the highest share of woman-headed MSMEs in the country, at 36.4%.
