Chennai: Four persons have been arrested so far in connection with the murder of a 22-year-old person over a relationship issue at Thaiyur near Kelambakkam.The deceased, Praveen Kumar of Chinnamma Nagar, Thaiyur, had been in a relationship with a woman from the same locality for three years. Her family opposed the relationship. On Aug 16, a group of men attacked Praveen with machetes near his house. He was admitted to a private hospital in Kelambakkam and later shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Govt General Hospital, where he died during treatment on Aug 20.Kelambakkam police initially registered a case of attempt to murder based on a complaint from Praveen’s mother, Parvathi, 48. After his death, the case was altered to murder under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.Police, ruling out an honour killing angle in the murder, said already they have had arrested S Ezhumalai, 43, his son E Gowtham, 18, and M Nandhees, 18, and R Manikandan, 32. E Gowtham, was arrested on Friday. All four were remanded in judicial custody.
