Dimapur: Security forces on Tuesday intensified operations in Nagaland’s Shokhuvi area, inducting additional columns of the Assam Rifles and Nagaland Police a day after a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) blast on an Assam Rifles vehicle killed one jawan and injured four others.Security agencies suspect insurgents were behind the attack, though no group has claimed responsibility.The defence PRO said four injured personnel are stable. They are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chumoukedima.The soldier killed in action in Monday’s blast was identified as Hav Mohd Iqbal of 28 Assam Rifles, who was posted at the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S) at Shokhuvi. He hailed from Jammu & Kashmir.Hav Iqbal will be laid to rest with full military honours in his native village in Jammu & Kashmir’s Poonch district.Assam Rifles on Tuesday paid tributes to Havildar Md Iqbal at Assam Rifles Training Centre and School at 3rd Mile in Dimapur. Leading the wreath-laying ceremony, Assam Rifles DG Lt Gen Vikash Lakhera paid floral tribute to the fallen soldier.Lt Gen Lakhera said the act is against humanity and that the army and Assam Rifles will do what is to be done. He urged people not to lose the hard-earned peace, saying, “This is the security of our future.” He also urged people to pray for peace.
