Guwahati: The Assam medical education and research department on Monday reshuffled the principals of two leading govt medical colleges, transferring the in charge heads of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and Nalbari Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) with immediate effect.Under the order, Prof (Dr) Achyut Chandra Baishya, principal-cum-chief superintendent (in charge) of GMCH and professor in the department of community medicine (SPM), was posted as principal-cum-chief superintendent (in charge) of Nalbari Medical College and Hospital.In a reciprocal transfer, Prof (Dr) Babul Kumar Bezbaruah, principal-cum-chief superintendent (in charge) of NMCH and professor in the department of pharmacology, will take over as the in charge principal-cum-chief superintendent of GMCH.According to the notification issued by the medical education and research department, Prof Baishya wasrelieved of his charge at GMCH with immediate effect, while Prof Bezbaruah was similarly relieved from his responsibilities at NMCH to assume his new assignment.
