Assam moved from instability and violence to peace, progress, and prosperity under the “double engine” BJP government over the last 10 years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday, ahead of the state assembly elections on April 9.

More than a dozen key peace agreements have brought lasting stability in the region, especially in regions like Bodoland, Modi told BJP booth-level workers across Assam in an interaction via the NaMo app.

“Booth jeetoge toh chunav jeetoge (win booth win the election),” he said, emphasising that booth karyakartas’ dedication and connection with every household is BJP’s greatest strength.

He urged them to educate first-time voters about the contrast between Assam’s earlier regimes marked by unrest and the current era of stability. He hailed Assam as the force driving BJP’s growth in the Northeast.

Modi underscored the importance of protecting Assam’s identity and tackling issues like illegal infiltration, calling it an issue of security, culture and justice.
