Mandya: Leader of opposition R Ashoka Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Congress govt in the state, criticising its performance as it nears the 1,000-day milestone in office.Speaking to reporters here, he said that while the govt had progressed in terms of time in office, it had regressed in development, calling the period “1,000 days of 1,000 problems” marked by alleged scandals and internal power struggles.

Ashoka flagged what he called a severe healthcare crisis, claiming govt hospitals are short of essential medicines due to the state’s failure to procure them or allow local purchases. He warned that doctors are planning protests on March 12 and accused health department of negligence. He also alleged that funds are being diverted to support elections in other states and claimed a Rs 1-crore bribe was demanded for a CL7 liquor licence in Mandya.About state’s finances, Ashoka said Karnataka is heading towards financial distress, alleging unprecedented borrowing under chief minister Siddaramaiah.
