Ashok Leyland has secured a partial arbitral award of ₹222.65 crore, along with interest and legal costs, in its long-running dispute with the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) over claims arising from bus supply contracts executed between 2009 and 2011.
In a stock exchange filing on Monday, the company said a majority award dated July 6, 2026, by an Arbitral Tribunal in New Delhi allowed part of its claims worth ₹222.65 crore. The tribunal also awarded pre-arbitration, pendente lite and post-award interest at 10% per annum until payment, besides legal costs of ₹2.96 crore.
The tribunal rejected DTC’s entire counterclaim of ₹136 crore, the company said.
The arbitration stems from contracts under which Ashok Leyland supplied buses to DTC between 2009 and 2011. The company had initiated arbitration proceedings in 2013 after raising claims under the contracts. Its original claim amounted to ₹445 crore.
Ashok Leyland said it is reviewing the contents of the award and is in the process of determining the final amount receivable, including interest.
“The Company is in the process of reviewing the contents of the award, ascertaining the final award amount inclusive of interest, and considering available options for the remaining amount claimed but not awarded,” the filing said.
