Purnima 2026: Significance
Purnima is one of the most sacred and auspicious days in Sanatan Dharma and the day is dedicated to worship Lord Vishnu and Moon God. People offer their sincere prayers to Lord Vishnu. Devotees perform various puja rituals and spiritual activities on this specific day to enhance their spiritual growth and receive abundance from the Lord and attract good fortune. This is the day when Moon appears in its full form so people who have weak Moon, they can enhance the Moon energy by doing Moon remedies on this particular day.
Satyanarayan Puja :
The day is also dedicated to worship Lord Satyanarayan, another manifestation of Lord Vishnu so people observe fast on this day from dawn to dusk and they break the fast after worshipping Moon in the evening. Satayanarayan puja is performed by the devotees. Some devotees call priest to perform this puja to avoid any mistake. They recite Satyanarayan story and prepae particular type of bhog prasad for the Lord and complete the puja by reciting the Satayanaran aarti.
Guru Purnima:
As we all know that Ashadha Purnima is also celebrated as Guru Purnima and devotees offer their prayers to their Guru’s mentors and teachers. This is also advised to visit your spiritual Guru as he is the one who gives you direction and encourages you to move towards God. He gives you all knowledge about scriptures, holy books, mantras and he works as a medium between you and God. This is the most auspicious day, when you must visit them and show your gratitude to them.
Purnima 2026: Puja Rituals
1. Wake up early in the morning and take a bath before starting puja rituals.2. Clean the space where you want to perform puja. 3. Set up an altar and place and idol of Lord Vishnu, Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi. 4. Invoke the idol by lighting a diya and chanting mantras.5. Adorn the idol with flowers, offer bhog prasad and seasonal fruits. 6. Recite Satyanarayan puja and aarti. 7. Offer bhog to the lord and then offer water to Moon God. 8. After completing puja rituals, one must distribute bhog prasad among devotees.
