Guwahati: Election Commission of India, which published the final electoral rolls on Tuesday after special revision, found 24,958,139 eligible voters in Assam, which is due for assembly polls early this year. The Assam Election Office on Tuesday published the final voters’ list for the 126 seats.

A statement issued by Assam CEO said out of the total, 12,475,583 are female voters, 12,482,213 male voters and 343 from the third gender.

The final electoral rolls registered a 0.97% decrease compared to the draft voter list published last December. The integrated draft voter list was published on December 27 and prior to this, a house-to-house verification drive was conducted from November 27 to December 20. The period for submitting claims and objections was from December 27, 2025, to January 22, 2026.
As National Register of Citizens data is yet to be fully concluded and is subject to Supreme Court supervision, ECI opted for SR in Assam while holding SIR in other poll-bound states. Under SR, the focus was mainly on inclusion of voters unless a specific objection was raised.

The draft SR had found 478,992 as deceased and their names were identified for deletion after due process. SR also found that a total of 523,680 electors had moved from their registered locations. SR found 53,619 demographically similar entries, which were identified for correction.
