At the KVK observatory, the minimum temperature was recorded at 25.8°C, down from 26.7°C on Friday

Gurgaon: Residents woke up to a muggy Saturday after a relatively pleasant week as a shift in monsoon conditions brought back humidity across the city and south Haryana. India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast only scattered rainfall over the coming days.Although morning felt humid, minimum temperatures were slightly lower than the previous day.At the KVK observatory, the minimum temperature was recorded at 25.8°C, down from 26.7°C on Friday. The NorthCap University observatory recorded a minimum of 26.4°C, compared with 26.8°C a day earlier, while the Gurgaon AWS station registered 25°C, marginally lower than Friday’s 25.3°C. Relative humidity ranged between 57% and 69% during the day.Daytime temperatures, however, climbed as the rain clouds largely stayed away from the city. The maximum temperature at the Gurgaon KVK observatory rose to 34.9°C from 33°C a day earlier. At the Gurgaon AWS station, mercury touched 34.4°C, up from 32.9°C on Friday. The shift in weather comes as the monsoon trough moved northwards and is now running close to the foothills of the Himalayas. According to IMD, the western end of the trough remains near its normal position, while its eastern end has shifted north of normal. At the same time, a western disturbance, seen as a cyclonic circulation in the middle tropospheric levels, persists over northeast Punjab and adjoining areas and continues to influence weather conditions across northwest India.Unlike last week, when the monsoon remained relatively active and frequent spells of rain helped keep the weather comparatively comfortable, the coming days are expected to see more localised and scattered showers across Haryana. The IMD forecast light to moderate rainfall at isolated places in Jhajjar, Gurgaon, Nuh, Palwal, Faridabad, Rohtak, Sonipat, Panipat and Jind over the next few days. Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely over parts of northern Haryana, including Chandigarh and Yamunanagar, until July 12.
