Itanagar: The Geku Youth Committee (GYC) has demanded the immediate and unconditional release of four people detained under the Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (APUAPA).In a representation to the Upper Siang deputy commissioner, GYC president Orik Taku and general secretary Nith Paron identified those detained on Oct 9 as Adum Tayum, Omak Paron, Okut Paloh and Oson Paron.The committee described the detention as “arbitrary and entirely unjustified” and stated that the continued deprivation of liberty is a severe violation of fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution of India.The GYC also accused the CRPF and other paramilitary personnel deployed during the incident of damaging private property and vehicles. It further alleged that security personnel assaulted civilians and threw stones at them, injuring two elderly women.
