Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh minister Ojing Tasing on Sunday inspected the proposed pre-feasibility report (PFR) site for the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project in Siang district.Tasing visited the site at Parong village to review preparations for the PFR.After the inspection, he wrote on social media, “Visited the proposed PFR site at Parong Village to review the ground-level preparedness and arrangements for undertaking the PFR activities, including site readiness, coordination among concerned departments and agencies, and other logistical and administrative requirements.”He described the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project as a project of national interest, saying it was significant for Arunachal and the country.“As we move forward, our endeavour remains guided by dialogue, transparency and an inclusive approach, ensuring that the aspirations, welfare and long-term development of the people of the region remain at the heart of the process,” Tasing wrote.He added that development must move forward with the people and for the people.The indigenous Adi community has repeatedly opposed the proposed 11,000 MW project, to be executed by NHPC.On Sept 29, chief minister Pema Khandu said the project would not proceed if experts found it technically unviable after the PFR.
