Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh governor KT Parnaik inaugurated the new governor secretariat building at the Lok Bhavan in Itanagar on Wednesday.CM Pema Khandu, senior state govt officials and secretariat staffers attended the ceremony.Dedicating the facility to the public, Parnaik said the Lok Bhavan serves as a platform for dialogue, cultural exchange, youth engagement and public outreach to bring governance closer to the people. “Arunachal Pradesh has made remarkable strides in development, and the Lok Bhavan will continue to remain accessible to citizens, students, entrepreneurs, artists, farmers and representatives of civil society,” the governor said, calling on citizens to view it as a house dedicated to their welfare and progress.Parnaik commended the construction quality and architectural design of the complex and said the state was setting new benchmarks in public infrastructure. He cited the Arunachal Pradesh legislative assembly and the high court complex as examples reflecting the state’s growing aspirations and commitment to good governance.Khandu congratulated the secretariat fraternity and described the Lok Bhavan as a symbol of inclusiveness and people-centric governance that bridges geographical distances and cultural diversity across regions.The G+1 structure was constructed by the public works department (PWD) at a cost of Rs 10.90 crore, with a plinth area of 1,424.63 square metres. Work on the project began on Feb 24, 2024. The building has central air conditioning, CCTV surveillance and elevator facilities to improve administrative efficiency and accessibility.
