Bathinda: Two 17-year-old students of Class XII were killed on Monday night after an Army truck struck their scooter on Sadiq Road, near the Faridkot military station.Harsanjh Singh and Dheeraj, both from Jhotiwala village, were returning home from tuition classes in Faridkot when the collision occurred. Police reports suggest the impact was severe enough to trap the teenagers’ scooter beneath the heavy military vehicle. Harsanjh Singh was pronounced dead on the scene due to the severity of the impact. Dheeraj was moved first to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College Hospital and, later. referred to a specialist facility in Ludhiana, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The incident has sparked concern regarding traffic safety on the busy Sadiq Road stretch adjacent to the military cantonment. Faridkot deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Naveen Kumar confirmed that authorities have launched a formal inquiry into the circumstances of the crash. The Army is yet to release any statement regarding the involvement of the service vehicle.
