Buxar: An Army soldier, who had come home on leave, allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself in his home at Dhavchhua village under Nawanagar police station area of the district on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Pankaj Kumar Gupta (48), son of late Brijbihari Sah, a resident of Dhavchhua village. No suicide note was found from the place, police said.According to police, the jawan was posted in Port Blair and he had arrived at his village on leave on Aug 6. His wife lived in the village with their two-year-old son.Police said at the time of the incident, his wife was visiting her maternal home with their son. Upon receiving information about the incident, Nawanagar police arrived at the village, took possession of the body, and sent it to a govt hospital in Buxar for the postmortem. The reason for the suicide is still not clear and the police are investigating the matter.Nawanagar SHO Prafull Kumar said Pankaj had returned home on leave on Aug 6 and he died by suicide on Saturday. Pankaj was the youngest of four brothers, he added.
