Jhunjhunu: Anil Kumar Sharma, a jawan in the army who died during special training in Uttarakhand, was cremated with full state honours Monday at his village Ramseesar in Sikar. The atmosphere turned sorrowful when Sharma’s mortal remains reached his home. An eight-km-long ‘Shaheed Samman Yatra’ was taken out in his honour. Anil Kumar was undergoing special training with his colleagues at Raiwala Camp, Uttarakhand, Friday afternoon at 2:30 pm, when he had to jump from a height of 18 feet into the water, but could not resurface. Fellow trainees searched for him in the water but failed to bring him out, following which divers retrieved him from the water. An Army Naib subedar handed over the national flag to Anil’s younger brother Manoj Kumar. When Sharma’s body arrived at his home Monday morning, his mother Sampu Devi, wife Sarita Devi, two sisters and other women of the family fell unconscious upon seeing the body. The wails of the women left everyone’s eyes moist. On this occasion, MLA Hakam Ali, former municipal council president Madhusudan Bhinda, former district council member Mahavir Bhojdesar, Congress state spokesperson RC Chaudhary, former Panchayat Samiti member Jitendrasingh Rathore, along with officials, public representatives and attendees, paid their floral tributes and condolences.TNN
