Apple launched two new products in India today. First is the new Mac mini, which has arrived with the M6 and M5 Pro chipsets. Second, the company also launched the new Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra chipsets. With these new devices, the company also added two new chipsets to its Apple Silicon portfolio, that is M6 and the M5 Ultra. Before the new Mac mini and the new Mac Studio go on sale in India. Mac mini features and specifications
As mentioned earlier, Apple launched the new Mac Mini with the M5 Pro and the new M6 chips in India. Apple says that with the new M6 chip, the Mac mini delivers up to 4x faster AI performance, 2x faster storage and graphics, and 40 percent faster CPU performance. Apple also says that Mac mini with the M5 Pro chip delivers up to 8.5x faster LLM prompt processing performance in LM Studio when compared to Mac mini with M2 Pro, and up to 4x faster than M4 Pro.
On the connectivity front, both the Mac mini models include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and an upgraded 2.5Gb Ethernet with a 10Gb option available. On its front, the new Mac mini has two USB-C ports that support USB 3 and a headphone jack with high-impedance headphone support for convenient access. On the back, it has three Thunderbolt 4 ports on the M6 variant, and three Thunderbolt 5 ports on the M5 Pro variant, along with HDMI and Ethernet. Both the variants also get genlock support through USB-C, which enables precise synchronisation between a display and camera, including iPhone 17 Pro.
On the software side, the new Mac mini will run the upcoming macOS 27 and it will support the next generation of Apple Intelligence and the new Siri AI.
Mac Studio features and specifications
Similarly, new Mac Studio has been launched with the M5 Max and the new M5 Ultra chips in India. Apple says that the new Mac Studio with M5 Max chip delivers up to 3.9x faster AI performance than the prior generation, while the variant with M5 Ultra chip delivers up to 4.3x the peak AI compute performance of M3 Ultra and a 9.8x more performance than the M1 Ultra chip.
On the memory front, the Mac Studio with M5 Max gets up to 128GB of unified memory with up to 8TB of storage space while the variant with M5 Ultra gets up to 512GB of unified memory and up to 16TB of storage space. Coming to the display, the M5 Max variant supports up to five external displays over any combination of Thunderbolt and HDMI ports, while the M5 Ultra variant supports up to eight external displays over any combination of Thunderbolt and HDMI ports.
Both the variants get a built-in speaker with a 3.5 mm headphone jack with advanced support for high-impedance headphones and HDMI port supports multichannel audio output.
On the connectivity front they get Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, thread networking technology, 10Gb Ethernet, Thunderbolt 5 with two USB-C ports on variant with M5 Max chip and two Thunderbolt 5 ports on M5 Ultra variant. The new Mac Studio will run the upcoming macOS 27 and support the next generation of Apple Intelligence, including Siri AI.
Apple Mac mini and Apple Mac Studio India price and availability
The Apple Mac mini with M6 chip starts at ₹99,990 and ₹89,990 for Education. Mac mini with M5 Pro starts at ₹2,09,900 and ₹1,97,900 for Education.
Similarly, the Apple Mac Studio with M5 Max starts at ₹2,79,900 and ₹2,56,900 for Education. The Mac Studio with M5 Ultra starts at ₹6,29,900 and ₹5,84,900 for Education.
Both these devices are up for pre-orders in India now and they will be available for purchase in the country starting September 22.
