Nagpur: Bomb threat emails triggered anxiety among parents and school authorities on Tuesday morning, with several parents contacting schools for updates as police carried out security checks.A parent of a Class 9 student, who wished to remain anonymous, said she received a message from the school about the threat while she was at work. “The school asked us not to panic and said evacuation and other arrangements were being made. I instantly called my kid’s class teacher, and they assured us that everything was fine,” she said.According to sources, several parents are considering keeping their children home for a few days. “Their safety is above everything else. A few absent marks on their record won’t do any damage,” said the parent of a Class 4 student of Podar International School.DPS MIHAN principal Nidhi Yadav told TOI that the school alerted police immediately after receiving the email. “The cops conducted a thorough check and gave us a set of instructions about the precautions we should take,” she said. The school was advised to tighten entry checks, ensure bags and other belongings were not left unattended, and report any suspicious activity or communication immediately.Anjali Tambat, a parent, said she learnt about the threat only after her child returned from school. “Later in the evening, I got a message from the school explaining the whole situation. I trust the school, but the situation is unlike any other. It is extremely scary for any parent,” she said.Sources said several students were deliberately kept unaware to prevent panic. An eighth-standard student said students were taken to the main ground, where a drill was conducted. “We thought it was a usual exercise. I found out about the whole bomb threat only when I went back home,” the student said.A Class 12 student of Central Point School, Wardhaman Nagar, said students too were unaware of the threat. “We had a fire drill in school. No one was taking it seriously since we thought it was a regular drill. My parents heard the commotion when they were waiting to pick me up, so they were a little scared since they knew about the threats,” the student said.
