Srinagar, Sep 14: In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Kashmir has arrested two Punjab-based alleged drug peddlers and recovered 110 grams of heroin from their possession in the Gangbugh area of Srinagar.
According to officials, the action followed credible inputs regarding the transportation and possession of narcotic substances in the area. Following the information, FIR No. 14/2026 under Sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station ANTF Kashmir.
A team led by the Investigating Officer was subsequently deployed to the spot under the supervision of Dy. SP ANTF Kashmir. During the operation, two persons identified as Vicky Kumar and Rajesh, both sons of Mithu Ram and residents of Matta Ward, Ferozepur, Punjab, were apprehended.
Officials said the search was conducted in the presence of a Magistrate and police and civilian witnesses, during which 110 grams of heroin was recovered.
Both accused have been arrested, while further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended destination of the contraband and identify the wider network involved in its transportation and distribution.
The ANTF Kashmir has reiterated its commitment to taking stringent action against narcotics trafficking and dismantling drug networks operating in the region.
