Coimbatore: Though his name was in the list, former state BJP president Annamalai was conspicuous by his absence among a group of BJP and AIADMK leaders lined up to receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Coimbatore Internation Airport in the city on Sunday afternoon.The Prime Minister arrived at the Coimbatore International Airport around 1.30pm on a special flight. From the airport, Modi left for Kerala in a chopper for an election campaign. BJP leaders Nainar Nagendran, L Murugan, Vanathi Srinivasan, AIADMK leader SP Velumani, and president of Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi TR Paarivendhar received the Prime Minister at the airport. Addressing reporters at the airport, Vanathi Srinivasan said, “His (Annamalai) name was also in the list of people who will be receiving the Prime Minister. He did not come to the airport. I will him ask about this.” She said BJP does not have any factions. “We are all with Annamalai and he is our beloved brother. The party headquarters will decide on selecting candidates,” she added. Velumani said that the AIADMK and its allies will win in 210 assembly constituencies. “The state’s law and order situation is becoming worse, and the people of Tamil Nadu are affected due to the electricity tariff hike,” Velumani said, adding that AIADMK will win all the 21 assembly constituencies in Coimbatore, Tirupur and the Nilgiris district.He also added that the real fight will be between AIADMK and DMK.
